Trust plays a major role in fostering the genuine personal and professional connections that benefit both yours and others’ lives. It’s the foundation that allows secure, deep, and of-service relationships to flourish. As outlined by Francis Frei’s Trust Triangle, to build the trust that leads to more collaborative and mutually beneficial connections, you must display three key character ethic traits in your interactions – authenticity, logic, and empathy.
When considering your connections and interactions that haven’t gone well or progressed to the next level, think about whether an element of trust may have been lacking. Did you show up as your most authentic and true self? Were you as logical, relevant, and thoughtful as you could have been? Did you display genuine empathy and care for your connection and their experiences?
You can’t be all things to all people all the time, and that’s okay. But with your important and valuable connections, you must show up as your best, most authentic, logical, and empathetic self. By doing so, you can develop the trust that will strengthen your priority relationships and propel them to new depths. These are the transformative, core connections that will be most supportive of and integral to your life and success.
