Rest isn't the enemy

Rest isn't the enemy

February 4, 2021

Even though self-care is becoming more of a priority for people, I think there’s still a bit of a stigma when it comes to rest. There’s a saying after all: If you rest, you rust. But, I don’t think that’s fair. True rest is essential to so many areas of your life: your health, productivity, happiness, mind, and for some, soul.

Meditation: The secret weapon for daily life

January 28, 2021

We are in an unprecedented time filled with uncertainty, hardship, and, invariably, stress. There is so much to connect with and comment on, with constant and sometimes conflicting information bombarding your brain. I think a little me time is in order!

Overcoming your bias to appreciate the nuance

Overcoming your bias to appreciate the nuance

September 17, 2020

The unbridled exchange of information on the internet has never met its match in terms of ensuring accuracy and consistency, which is why we must individually confront ourselves, our biology, and our biases to find a truer, more nuanced picture of the issues.

The class of 2020: A cultural reset

August 31, 2020

According to CNBC, there will be a total of 3,898,000 college graduates in the United States. As of right now, the class of 2020 doesn’t know how long our post-graduate progression will be stalled. Lessons from the Last Airbender

Children’s movies and TV shows hold a special place not only in our hearts, but in the collective media of our society. Large creators like Disney and Pixar craft beautiful, relatable characters and stories that do not simply entertain the latest generation, but provide social commentary in simple but powerful ways for more mature minds.

How to gain confidence (and introducing Siegfried’s Confidence series!)

How to gain confidence (and introducing Siegfried’s Confidence series!)

July 30, 2020

The Confidence Series videos bring experts and novices together on one screen to try all the fulfilling activities life has to offer. With varying degrees of success, I’ve learned to knit scarves as well as cook a Chick-fil-A inspired sandwich in my kitchen, blazing new trails for myself and getting more and more excited to try new things.

Locked and loaded: joy triggers

Locked and loaded: joy triggers

May 18, 2020

So, what makes you happy? What are the simple, perhaps irrational, things that bring you joy? I found out the other day that these things are called “joy triggers.” And I loved that.

How to write a gratitude letter that'll blow someone away

May 7, 2020

Writing a gratitude letter may seem like an overblown thank you note, but that’s simply not true. Imagine how you would feel if you received an honest, truthful letter that thanked you for how you impacted someone’s life?

Rebuilding after the 2008

Rebuilding after the 2008 "Great Recession"

April 23, 2020

For Cassandra Essick, Employee Engagement Associate at Siegfried, the chaotic events of the past few weeks have reminded her of her struggle through 2008 and her journey back to enjoyable normalcy. The similarities between these two seismic events are striking, but Cassandra promises it will get better: “Even though it’s bad right now, and it might get worse before it gets better, my experiences in 2008 and others’ experiences throughout history show it will get better.”
