Reid was born and raised in Baltimore, MD. She is a student at the University of Delaware, where she will be earning her B.A. in Economics this spring. Her favorite things to do include exploring new places, experimenting with different recipes, and watching sports with her family. She loves Spain and hopes to be able to return there soon!

Silence carries a strong stigma. It is seen as crippling, rude, and worst of all, weak. But, why is this? I may be one of the few who values silence. I see the beauty and power in its pure nothingness and the opportunities that hide behind it. It offers a pause to the bustling world, allowing for self-reflection and growth.

I rarely take the time to reflect on the events of each day. I feel what I feel in the moment and then tend to let go and move on. But is this what’s best for us and our personal growth? We grow not just by doing things, but by reflecting on why we do the things we do. Introspection lets us rediscover our passions and see what matters most to us. From here, we can re-focus our attention on specific values and goals.
